An opportunity for an SEN Teacher (preferably with a Math or English specialism) has arisen at an SEMH/PRU provision in Liverpool
About the role
This is a dedicated SEMH/PRU provision for students who have been excluded from schools in Liverpool. There are currently over 50 pupils on the roll aged 11-19 years old. Students demonstrate a wide range of learning difficulties including ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s and social, emotional, mental health difficulties. Students work in small classes of no more than 6 and undergo regular (targeted) intervention sessions. There is a large support team based across the sit including experienced LSAs
Ideal candidate
This is an established SEN PRU/SEMH provision and would therefore suit an experienced SEN Teacher or an English/Math Teacher looking to move into SEN. Lessons will need to be tailored to the diverse array of student needs and work off the KS3-4 English/GCSE curriculum. Due to the students’ behavioural and SEND provisions, many students are currently achieving at KS2 levels.
While a formal SEND qualification is not essential, experience or a strong willingness to work with students with behavioural, autism and mental health disabilities is a key requirement. Applicants must have UK experience and be willing to commit to the school on a long-term basis to ensure consistency and lasting relationships are fully developed with the students. This is a unique opportunity that would suit either an SEND or English/Math Secondary Teacher looking for a change. A formal teaching qualification is required for this role.
