Senior Software Engineer, Applications – Reliability Solutions

Description

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop computer software systems whose software architecture is designed for the distributed enterprise and uses the latest technologies available such as AngularJS, JQuery, HTML5, C#, ASP.NET, RESTful API, and SQL Server databases. The system manages complex data and involves automated analysis, data mining techniques, and interfaces to hardware monitoring devices. Development is done using agile development methodologies in a global team environment.

This senior level position will be responsible for the development of web and mobile applications. The position also includes technical leadership and mentoring opportunities to ensure project success and the continuous improvement of the team.

Responsibilities
* Leadership

* Directs the activities of less senior technical staff
* Leads and facilitates peer design and code reviews

Project Planning
* Participates in task definition and project estimation

Specification and Concept Design
* Authors and maintains requirements specifications and concept documents

Architecture and Detailed Design
* Provides input to the creation of system architecture plans and documents
* Authors and maintains design documents

Implementation
* Directs, specifies, and plans methodologies for back-end software subsystems
* Understands and analyzes existing software
* Designs, implements, and tests software

Test
* Verifies that assigned software modules work properly and satisfy applicable requirements
* Verifies that assigned software modules integrate successfully into the overall system and work appropriately with other designated software systems and hardware platforms

User Documentation
* Provides input for technical manuals and user documentation as required

Maintenance and Customer Support
* Interfaces with Product Support and Product Test to answer technical questions and to resolve issues
* Works with System Test to identify and/or correct reported discrepancies in assigned software modules; may work directly with customers when authorized
* May perform root-cause-failure-analysis (RCFA) for major discrepancies and contribute to and/or author supporting Quality documentation

Tools and Technology
* Investigates new technologies and evaluates them for use in our products
* Leads the effort of evaluating & selecting technical tools

Miscellaneous
* Participants as needed in discussions with Marketing, Services, and Sales groups
* Follows the applicable Reliability Solutions product development processes
* Contributes to overall process improvement

Requirements
* The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate high energy and drive in steadfastly achieving the desired results.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* 3+ years software development experience using one or more of the following programming languages: JavaScript, C#, Java
* 3+ years software development experience in web development with HTML5 technologies
* 3+ years software development experience building hybrid mobile applications
* Demonstrated knowledge of current state-of-the-art software development methodologies and tools
* Strong understanding of software architecture and software design documentation practices
* Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging commercial software
* BS Eng or Comp Sci + 4 years experience OR MS Eng or Comp Sci + 3 years experience developing software as part of complex systems

Preferences
* Software development experience building web applications leveraging one or more of the following technologies: JQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS, ASP.NET and SignalR
* 2+ years experience developing RESTful APIs as the standard contract for system interaction
* Experience with OAuth 2.0 protocol and Federated Identity
* Experience building Event Driven Architectures leveraging messaging technologies such as MSMQ, AMQP, MQTT, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or NServiceBus

What does a Best Buy Front End Leader do?

The Front End Leader enables Best Buy to deliver our customer promise of personalized service to ensure customers are provided the right solution to meet their needs. You will be a key player in driving effective front of store processes that provide a world class experience for our customers including: store pick-up, checkout and customer services (return / exchange / trade-in, recycle processing).

You will support the direction of the Assistant Store Manager Operations in delivering efficient and effective processing, company goal attainment, shrink plan integrity, safety and profitability within the store.
As the Front End Leader you will:
* Provides on-going coaching, training and motivation to team members and other store personnel as needed to achieve financial goals, department and store shrink plans and front of store goals along with high standards of customer service.
* Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures for transactions and interactions at the front of the store are followed including: visual merchandise standards, checkout, pickup, returns / exchanges / trade-ins, and recycling.

What are the Professional Requirements of a Front End Leader?
Basic Qualifications:

* 1 Years Operations/Front-End experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* 6 months Retail experience
* Previous operations experience (including checkout, store pick up, return/exchange/trade-in)
